You, Me and Dupree movie review by star757

You, Me and Dupree Movie Review by star757

Buy the Movie Poster for You, Me and Dupree

Kate Hudson, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn star in this movie about a newly married couple and the husband's best friend. In this movie Kate Hudson and Vince Vaughn are newlyweds and just moving into their first home when Vince's friend, played by Owen Wilson, needs some help. He's out of a job with no place to stay and moves in with the couple for a while. Well, if you've watched any of his movies you can imagine the comedic mishaps that follow. The friend's problems just add to the newness of the married couple living together. All three of them have problems adjusting to the situation. What will happen to their marriage? Will Dupree ever find a job and move out? This movie is pretty funny and if you enjoy the other types of movies Owen Wilson is in then you will probably like this one. It's a comedy that's supposed to be for both men and women. I watched this with my husband and mother, and we all liked it. Not the best movie in the world, but for what it is it was funny and enjoyable.

Escape to Witch Mountain movie review by Derek_Fleek

Escape to Witch Mountain Movie Review by Derek_fleek

Buy Movie Poster for Escape to Witch Mountain

The original 1975 Walt Disney classic Escape To Witch Mountain is, unfortunately, dated, and it doesn’t fully provide the magic it would have needed to make it more than just another run-of-the-mill Disney affair. It is occasionally fun and diverting, but otherwise mundane, and the special effects are of decidedly inferior quality even for its time. In addition to the cheap imagery, the high-flying finale lacks of visual marvel. It starts off on level ground and never takes off, thanks partly to cast members Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann, who give a vibe much too creepy for a family film.
Escape To Witch Mountain definitely has some of the qualities of a classic, but they’re basic and fundamental rather than qualities of style and interest. Nevertheless, though the film looks inexpensive, and most of its cast is inadequate at line-reading, Escape To Witch Mountain does have the ability to keep viewers mostly amused through its 97-minute running time.
John Hough, director of the 1974 cult classic Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, here switches his apparatus to much less action with nearly no authenticity. Rent it for its curiously large quantity of cheesy moments that tickle, and some enjoyable quotes. It’s pleasant enough to warrant a one-time viewing, especially if you grew up in the 70s. But from the perspective of 30 years later, Escape To Witch Mountain is lacking in emotional sonority.
This new special edition DVD has some of the most detailed special features of any Disney DVD. For Disney enthusiasts and those fond of the film, the special features may be a nostalgic and even overwhelmingly enjoyable experience.
The special features include “Making The Escape,” which mostly explores the special effects and features interviews with the cast about the making of the film; “Conversations with Director John Hough”; “Disney Sci-Fi,” a montage of some of Disney’s best Sci-Fi films; an animated short from 1940 entitled Pluto’s Dream House; a “1975 Disney Studio Album” that highlights Disney’s greatest pictures from that year; and “Disney Effects - Something Special,” which explores the importance of matte painting in the Disney Studio. The release also includes “Pop-Up Fun Facts” and “Audio Commentary.” 1.5/5 stars

Appaloosa Movie Review by star757

Appaloosa Movie Review by star757

Buy Movie Poster for Appaloosa

This movie stars Ed Harris and Vigo Mortensen as Virgil Cole and Everrett Hitch, men hired to protect a town being dominated by a cattle rancher. Jeremy Irons plays Randall Bragg, the bad guy in this western. The town is afraid of him after he kills the marshall and does whatever he and his men please. Cole and Hitch are hired to run the town according to Cole's rules and to get Bragg for the murder. Thrown into this is Allison French played by Renee Zellweger. She is a widow who falls in love with Cole, but has trouble being faithful. I thought this was a very good movie. It was interesting and different from your usual movie. The music was great and made me think of a classic western. I would recommend this even if you don't like westerns. It's a great good guys vs. bad guys with a good story line and interesting characters.

An American Carol movie review by Star757

An American Carol Movie Review by star757

Buy Movie Poster for An American Carol

This movie stars Kevin Farley as Hollywood "documentary" director Michael Malone. He hates America and wants to show it through his somewhat truthful documentaries showing what's so bad, and how other countries are better. The whole movie is narrated by Leslie Nielsen who is telling the story to a group of children at a 4th of July picnic. Michael Malone wants to get rid of the 4th of July. He is approached by some terrorists, unknown to him, who are looking for a director for their recruitment video. They mistakenly believe he is a big time Hollywood director. The movie follows Michael Malone as he is visited by spirits who try to show him the true meaning of America. Kelsey Grammar does a good job playing Gen. Patton who takes Michael through some interesting situations like shooting at the living-dead ACLU lawyers. John Voight plays George Washington, and Trace Adkins appears as himself. Following the Christmas Carol theme Michael has a nephew who wishes to see his uncle more, the only problem is he is in the navy which Michael hates. A funny movie, it could have been funnier, but overall pretty good.

Happy's career takes a 180 degree swing and lands him on the Pro Golf Tour, where he's about to turn the gentleman's game into a contact sport. A working stiff with a temper as short as his drives are long, Happy doesn't fit on the manicured greens of the country club. Now Happy is going from rinks to links--and driving the game of golf straight into the ground.

The Usual Suspects movie review by star757

The Usual Suspects Movie Review by star757

Buy Movie Poster for The Usual Suspects

This movie is about five criminals and what really happened on the night when over 20 people died. The movie begins with 5 men pulled into the police station for a lineup. They find it strange that it's the five of them. As they sit in lockup they decide to become a team. This movie is a flashback story told by Kevin Spacey's character. In their last job he is the only one that survives and is getting out on bond in just a few hours. One detective is determined to find out what really happened and questions him. The movie flashes back between the present and the story of how the five men came together and the jobs they pulled. A lot goes on in this movie and it's a little hard to explain it all and not give everything away. Overall it's a pretty good movie. It will keep you thinking and guessing what's really going on and what happened to the men. Watch it if you're looking for a suspense/crime movie. You'll enjoy it.

The Limits of Control - meet the characters

Focus features has just premiered a meet the characters for their upcoming LIMITS OF CONTROL, in theaters May 1. Check it out here.

The Limits of Control is the new movie from filmmaker Jim Jarmusch (Broken Flowers, Down by Law). The film is set in the striking and varied landscapes of contemporary Spain (both urban and otherwise). The location shoot there united the writer/director with acclaimed cinematographer Christopher Doyle (In the Mood for Love, Paranoid Park).

Isaach De Bankolé stars in the lead role for Mr. Jarmusch; this marks the duo’s fourth collaboration over nearly two decades, following Night on Earth, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, and Coffee and Cigarettes. The Limits of Control also features several other actors with whom Mr. Jarmusch has previously worked, including Alex Descas, John Hurt, Youki Kudoh, Bill Murray, and Tilda Swinton; and actors new to his films, including Hiam Abbass, Gael García Bernal, Paz De La Huerta, Jean-François Stévenin, and Luis Tosar.

The Limits of Control is the story of a mysterious loner (played by Mr. De Bankolé), a stranger, whose activities remain meticulously outside the law. He is in the process of completing a job, yet he trusts no one, and his objectives are not initially divulged.

His journey, paradoxically both intently focused and dreamlike, takes him not only across Spain but also through his own consciousness.
