Watch the trailer for Michael Jackson's This Is It

A rare glimpse into the final days of Michael Jackson, the documentary is compiled from an estimated 80 hours of rehearsal and behind-the-scenes footage of the legendary entertainer preparing for his 50 sold-out shows at London's O2 Arena that were scheduled to commence in July 2009 before his untimely death in June at age 50. Interviews with collaborators and close friends of the late performer are also featured.

Watch the trailer for The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is the much-anticipated sequel to the indie cult classic, The Boondock Saints. The film is the continuation of writer/director Troy Duffy’s tough, stylized cutting edge saga of the MacManus brothers (Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery). The two have been in deep hiding with their father, Il Duce (Billy Connolly), in the quiet valleys of Ireland, far removed from their former vigilante lives. When word comes that a beloved priest has been killed by sinister forces from deep within the mob, the brothers return to Boston to mount a violent and bloody crusade to bring justice to those responsible. With a new partner in crime (Clifton Collins Jr., Star Trek) and a sexy FBI operative (Julie Benz, TV's “Dexter”) hot on their trail…the Saints are back!

Easy Virtue Movie Review by movieviewr

Easy Virtue Movie Review by movieviewr

Buy the Movie Poster for Easy Virtue

Hitchcock was able to do a great deal of portraying of facts and emotions through the actions of his actors and cut down on the amount of title cards needed to project dialog. That’s good. But Hitchcock had little passion for the project from the beginning and was contractually bound to do it resulting in a moderately drab film. That’s bad.

The opening trial sequence was able to cut back and forth between the court room and the back story almost seamlessly and was very well done. That’s good. But the film took a screeching halt after that and we never really cared what happened to anyone from then on out. That’s bad.

Season of the Witch clip - coming 3/19/2010!

In the supernatural thriller SEASON OF THE WITCH, Nicolas Cage stars as a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade (Ron Perlman) to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch (Claire Foy) to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence. A priest (Stephen Campbell Moore), a grieving knight (Ulrich Thomsen), an itinerant swindler (Stephen Graham) and a headstrong youth who can only dream of becoming a knight (Robert Sheehan) join a mission troubled by mythically hostile wilderness and fierce contention over the fate of the girl. When the embattled party arrives at the abbey, a horrific discovery jeopardizes the knight's pledge to ensure the girl fair treatment, and pits them against an inexplicably powerful and destructive force.

Walter Weed (Tom Berenger) is an unassuming desk jockey at the FBI when the Bureau uncovers a plot to assassinate him. A team of degenerate, psychotic assassins dispatched by mystery man Hal Leuco to win a huge bounty includes a resourceful beauty who has a unique method of killing her prey (Martha Higareda), a power-tool wielding psychopath (Vinnie Jones) and a deadly master of disguise (Tommy Flanagan). Also in the hunt is the fan-favorite Tremor family from the original film, featuring nymphomaniacal gun-nut (Autumn Reeser) and her lethal kinfolk (Maury Sterling, Michael Parks and C. Ernst Harth). Baker (Clayne Crawford), the agent in charge of the operation, puts himself and his team in the line of fire to defend Weed, but it’s not until the smoke clears on the film’s explosive climax that the surprising identity of the plot’s mastermind is revealed.

The Fourth Kind - Watch the trailer

In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document...until now. Structured unlike any film before it, The Fourth Kind is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where—mysteriously since the 1960s—a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented. Using never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film, The Fourth Kind exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

Watch it in theaters November 6! Follow The Fourth Kind on Facebook.

When high-powered book editor Margaret faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she's actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew, who she's tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own. The unlikely couple heads to Alaska to meet his quirky family and the always-in-control city girl finds herself in one comedic fish-out-of-water situation after another. With an impromptu wedding in the works and an immigration official on their tails, Margaret and Andrew reluctantly vow to stick to the plan despite the precarious consequences.

Space-time vortexes suck. Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world—a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost. Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Chased by T. rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally—a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone)—to navigate out of the hybrid dimension. Escape from this routine expedition gone awry and they’re heroes. Get stuck, and they’ll be permanent refugees in the Land of the Lost. Based on the classic television series created by Sid & Marty Krofft, Land of the Lost is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Jimmy Miller and Sid & Marty Krofft.

Buy the movie poster for Drag Me to Hell.

Director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy, Evil Dead series) returns to the horror genre with Drag Me to Hell, an original tale of a young woman’s desperate quest to break an evil curse. Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home. In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal damnation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse?

Elektra Movie Review by star757

Elektra Movie Review by star757

Buy the Movie Poster for Elektra

I happened to catch this movie while lounging on the couch one Saturday afternoon. It stars Jennifer Garner as Elektra. I guess this is somewhat of a sequel to her appearance in Daredevil with Ben Affleck, but I have not seen that one. As the movie starts we learn about the legend of Elektra and good vs. evil. We also see that she is a hired killer. Throughout the movie we see flashbacks to her past and how she became who she is, but we don't really see everything. Her latest assignment takes her to an island where she meets a single dad and his troublesome daughter. When she learns that she must kill them she can't even though she tries not to get attached to people. The rest of the movie follows their flight from the evil "Hand". We learn more about why they want this man and his daughter. You need to pay attention because little details are unraveled along the way. Can Elektra help them? Who are they really? Can Elektra come to grips with her true self as well? Overall I enjoyed the movie. There is a lot of action that keeps you into the movie. I think the ending could have gone a little deeper, but maybe they were hoping for another sequel? Worth it to watch on TV if you've nothing else to do.

Burn After Reading Movie Review by movieviewr

Burn After Reading Movie Review by movieviewr

Buy the Movie Poster for Burn After Reading

Burn After Reading has been compared to previous Coen masterpieces like Fargo and Raising Arizona in its bizarre story, eccentric characters, and cartoon-like violence. Fueled by an exceptional inventory of A-list actors, and the Coen’s recent success with No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading faired well at the box office, earning well over a hundred million worldwide. It also, despite its generally disregarded genre, seemed to satiate most of the critics. It was honored by opening the 2008 Venice Film Festival and ultimately found itself listed on a handful of top ten films of the year.

It’s the summer of 1980 in west Texas. Anton Chigurh (played by Javier Bardem) has escaped police custody and is calmly using his captive bolt pistol to lay a path of death and destruction as he makes his getaway. Meanwhile, Vietnam vet Llewelyn Moss (played by Josh Brolin) has stumbled across a drug deal gone wrong while out hunting antelope.
He follows a blood trail leading away from the slaughter and comes across a dead man holding a suitcase containing two million dollars. He quickly decides to take the money and hide it beneath his trailer. After an evening of internal turmoil Moss resolves to bring water back to the sole survivor of the massacre, but he is intercepted by a new wave of Mexican gangsters and is forced to abandon his truck at the scene. Sheriff Tom Bell (played by Tommy Lee Jones) is called in to investigate and traces Moss’ truck back to his residence. Chigurh has used the same method to track down the money and the deadly game of cat and mouse begins.
It is a very well made but very disturbing film. The violence is quite graphic but well done and not in your face. I would recommend this moive.

Paris, je t'aime Movie Review by movieviewr

Paris, je t'aime (or “Paris, I Love You” in English) is a short film collection featuring the talents of twenty one international filmmakers in eighteen segments which showcase the various regions and neighborhoods that make up the incredible city of Paris. The project started as an idea from French television director Tristan Carné. He enlisted the support of producers Emmanuel Benbihy and Claudie Ossard, who were then able to recruit German filmmaker Tom Tykwer. With Tykwer on board, the Coen brothers agreed to sign on as well and with that the list of filmmakers began to grow. The incredible catalog of talent includes Alfonso Cuarón, Gérard Depardieu, Richard LaGravenese, Alexander Payne, Isabel Coixet, Wes Craven, Gus Van Sant… and the list goes on and on. Paris, je t'aime has played to generally favorable reviews and was featured as an official selection in both the Cannes and Toronto Film Festivals. When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall. Alerted to the threat of this new monster, the military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound. There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of other monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, The President is persuaded by General W.R. Monger to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction.

Buy the movie poster for Shrink.

What happens when the people we count on to hold us together…are barely holding it together themselves? Jonas Pate's Shrink is a striking, fast-paced exposé of the “other” Hollywood, featuring folks living outside their comfort zone and the people who put them there. Henry Carter (Kevin Spacey) is a psychiatrist with an A-list clientele, including a once-famous actress (Saffron Burrows), an insecure young writer (Mark Webber), and a comically obsessive-compulsive superagent (Dallas Roberts). Henry is not in a good place, however. He has been asked to take his first pro bono case, a troubled teenage girl from a neighborhood far from the Hollywood hills. Considering his present state of mind, is he ready for the real-life troubles of a young woman who loves the world of movies he has become so jaded by? At its core, Shrink is a study of control and our endless need for it, even when it grows increasingly impossible to obtain. Writer Thomas Moffett uses classic archetypes in this modern Hollywood tale, but never pushes them over the edge of credibility. Performed by a well-matched cast at the top of their form, the result is both satisfying and exhilarating. Watching Shrink makes us feel like voyeurs looking through a window into the lives of people who look great, feel worse, and end up behaving badly.
