The Kingdom review by ajazfiazuddin

The Kingdom Movie Review

Do not rent "The Kingdom" if you are looking for a PBS documentary about the clash of civilizations or the middle east crisis or any other such deep analysis. This is an action movie, pure simple. It does not aim to be particularly intelligent, thoughtful, or politically correct. Definitely not politically correct. The plot, which simply revolves around an "under the table" FBI investigation of a bombing at an American housing complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, makes no bones about portraying the local Muslims as either blood thirsty extremist civilians or "suck-up" royal family members looking for every Kodak moment they can. The only exception is one Saudi cop who teams with the FBI agents, including Agent Flurry (Jamie Foxx) to catch the perps behind the bombing. He wants to protect his country and its people as vehemently as Jamie Foxx, and in that cause they are united. After all, the bombing cost the lives of 47 of his Saudi colleagues too. Perhaps the only important and honest message the movie does successfully convey is that the victims of Jihadist terrorism vary and are often themselves Muslim. So go ahead and rent it ... because effects and action wise, its a good film. Just don't expect to earn a PHd in international studies while watching it.
