Mr. Brooks Movie Review by star757

Mr. Brooks Movie Review by star757

This movie is about a serial killer. It was pretty gross at times, although there is not killing throughout the whole movie. I found it to be a weird movie with an unfinished ending. Kevin Costner plays Mr. Brooks, a rich businessman who is addicted to killing. At the beginning of the movie he is named businessman of the year. He has not killed for 2 years, he is known as the "Thumbprint Killer", but his alter ego who is always with him, played by William Hurt, encourages him to get back into killing. Throughout the movie you see that Mr. Brooks doesn't want to kill, but can't stop either. To throw a twist in comes Mr. Smith, played by Dane Cook, who took a picture of Mr. Brooks at his last killing. What does he want from Mr. Brooks? Will he turn him in? Throughout the movie we see the detective, played by Demi Moore, who has been on the case of Brooks. Will she find him? Or will she be killed by the serial killer newly escaped from jail who is after her? Woven into the story is also Mr. Brooks daughter who has just quit college and returned home. She is pregnant and Mr. Brooks is sure there is something else behind why she came home. What is the real truth about his daughter? This was an interesting movie, but sick at the same time. Things are somewhat finished at the end, but all loose ends are not tied up as in some murder/suspense movies. Will they find out who Mr. Brooks really is?

i had a feeling Costner would make some kind of a comeback; plus it's interesting how Dane Cook went from stand up comedian to starring in a ton of major movies
