I really enjoyed this movie. It is about the Western Texas Division 1 basketball team in the 1960's, and is based on a true story. It stars Josh Lucas as Coach Bob Haskins who comes to Western Texas after coaching high school girls' basketball. The team is not good, and they're just looking for a coach who will take the job. Haskins has a tough time recruiting players without a lot of money or scholarships to offer. He starts recruiting black players because then other schools were not courting them. Haskins ends up with 7 black players and 5 white players on his team. Throughout the movie we follow them as they work to be accepted as a legitimate team. They end up doing well. You will have to watch the movie to see how far they make it, unless you already know the story. You see the racism back them, but the movie focuses on how Haskins coaches them. He wants them to give it their all, work hard, and not let others say they can't do it when they know they can. I liked this movie. It's rated PG, is in good taste, and can be enjoyed by the whole family. You can't say that about many movies nowadays. If you like sports movies about underdogs, you will enjoy this one.
